As the US is facing a significant problem to manage the COVID-19 crisis, the demand for ventilators has emerged in the country. As per the Worldometer, on 27th April 2020, the new incidences of COVID-19 were 23,196 and 1,384 deaths reported. This growing number of coronavirus incidences has a significant impact on the US healthcare system. This resulting in the emerging demand for testing kits and essential medical equipment in the country. Ventilators have a remarkable demand in the country to support COVID-19 patients to breathe easier. In April 2020, New York City, US alone estimates arequirement of 30,000 additional ventilators. As per the World Economic Forum, the US ventilator production growth is expected to reach 5,000-7,000 per week. On 24th March 2020, General Electric Co. partnered with Ford Motors to quickly produce ventilators for the treatment of COVID-19 patients. Since the starting of COVID-19 epidemic, GE Healthcare has doubled its ventilator manufacturing capacity. Under the partnership, Ford will offer technical and manufacturing expertise for the production of a simplified design of the existing ventilator of GE Healthcare. This, in turn, will enable to satisfy the demand for ventilators in the US healthcare facilities.
