India Undergoes Complete Lockdown for 21 Days

  • Total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in India has crossed the 500-mark
  • New coronavirus cases reported in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh
  • Death toll in India mounts to 10 after man from Tamil Nadu dies

In an unprecedented move, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi complete lockdown of India for 21 days to fight coronavirus pandemic. Narendra Modi warned that if these 21 days are not observed as a lockdown, it will take India back 21 years. In addition, he appealed not to panic as all essential commodities such as medicines and milk will be available during the lockdown.

Meanwhile, the total number of Covid-19 victims in the country crossed 580 on 25th March morning four people testing positive in Madhya Pradesh. The death count increased to 10 in the morning of 25th March after the first casualty reported in Tamil Nadu. A man aged 54-year infected with coronavirus died in Chennai in the early hours of Wednesday, the first death casualty in Tamil Nadu due to coronavirus.

In Madhya Pradesh, 5 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Indore on 25th March 202z: 4 are the residents of Indore while 1 of Ujjain.

In Uttar Pradesh, there are 35 patients, which include 1 foreigner.

In Maharashtra, coronavirus patient aged 65-year died in Mumbai on 23rd March, which took the death count to 3 in the metropolis. The state, with 107 cases, has so far accounted for the highest number of coronavirus infections followed by Kerala (105).

North East saw its first case on 23rd March after a 23-year-old woman from Manipur tested positive for the virus. Karnataka has recorded 41 cases of coronavirus patients and Telangana has recorded 39 patients. Cases in Rajasthan have increased to 32, which include two foreigners.

In Gujarat, there are 35 positive cases which include 1 foreigner.

Cases in Delhi stand at 29, including 1 foreigner.

In Haryana, there are 30 patients tested positive, which include 14 foreigners, while there are 29 cases in Punjab.

Ladakh reported 13 cases, while there are 18 cases in Tamil Nadu, including 2 foreigners.

West Bengal has reported 9 cases while there are 7 cases in Andhra Pradesh.

Chandigarh has reported 6 cases.

There are 2 cases each in Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, and Odisha.

Manipur, Puducherry, and Chhattisgarh have reported 1 case each.
